Here is Saoirse when I first got her. Not too long after I got her, she knew her name and began coming when I snapped. I never taught her to do this, she just picked it up on her own. I would be sitting on the couch and she would be free-ranging, and I would snap and she'd come running from a bedroom.
Saoirse was bred to AGCR Jasper in March of 2011. Here they are meeting for the first time.

She gave birth to 8 babies, but only 3 survived. Ophelia and Vriska are the black and white twins and Zocquiel is their beige brother.
Saoirse loved bothering the cats. She would chase them off the couch and around the house. She would also jump on them, as she is doing to poor Lestat in this photo. Lestat was bitten by a rat before and has been scared of them ever since. I think Saoirse took advantage of this fear.
"Saoirse, what are you doing covered in bedding? Silly girl."

In May, 2012, Saoirse suffered an ear infection. 60 dollars later, she had some ear drops and recovered, but she was left with a head-tilt. Due to her lack of balance, she could no longer live in a cage with bars as she could climb up and fall. So I made her a tub cage and she got to live with the babies who were too young to go out with the big girls. She still ran around, even if she was sideways.

Saoirse was the best rat I ever knew. She was more than a pet. She was my best-friend. Rats have such personalities...too much personality for a short 2-3 years. But when you meet that special rat, you know the pain is worth it, because for those short years you had an amazing friend that filled you with happiness.
